# Miscellaneous This is an island of misfit toys, a bucket for everything else I get the itch to post that hasn't earned its own category yet: home infrastructure, decisions about the services I use, tinkering, and meta topics including management and purpose of this site. There's no intended reading order here; the posts are listed descending, newest first. ## Posts - **[[New Home, New Homelab]]** — What better way to celebrate buying a house than putting holes in the walls? Posted in September 2024, summarizing our home network stack before, to Lack Rack or not to Lack Rack, building out the homelab, and updated to reflect the October 2026 current state of the setup. - **[[Goodbye GMail, hello Zoho]]** — A November 2023 post on moving my personal email from free Gmail to paid Zoho, a jump made when phishing risk to the former grew to an unacceptable level. Talks through the rationale, candidate services, why $1/month Zoho won, and a resource list for making your own switch. - **[[Car, er, Kitchen Thing]]** — A 2022 mini-post about buying a Spotify Car Thing on a lark and mounting it under the kitchen cabinets as a Spotify remote, because the car didn't need it and the kitchen did. - **[[My (Old) New Site]]** — The initial post from March 2022: why I wanted a personal site in the first place, where the BeerMetalPC name came from, and building the original Jekyll-on-GitHub-Pages iteration on a Mac. This still carries several update notes including that the Jekyll site has since been decommissioned in favor of what you're reading now. _More will land here as the itch strikes._
